Welcome To Our Retreats
Seeking spiritual refreshment in private retreats with The Society of Our Mother of Peace
The Society of Our Mother of Peace conducts private
retreats, providing not only room and board to retreatants
but also guidance and spiritual direction for those who
express the desire for it. Since these are private retreats,
the choice of subject matter (see retreat plans below) is
left to each participant. We do have some suggestions
however that may be helpful to retreatants especially those
who have never made a private retreat before. Retreatants
are free to chose, combine or adapt whatever is suggested.

Clothing & Hygiene
Our hermitages are heated and cooled for all season comfort, but are privately placed along our woodland
paths to give you a sense of solitude. As all our paths are softly graveled for sure footings  you should
bring strong and comfortable walking shoes. Also, walking from your private hermitage will be done in all
kinds of weather, so tastefully modest season specific clothing, personal toiletries and any necessary
medications should be packed for your stay with us. If you have specific health problems or accessibility
needs, please bring them to our attention so that we can make your stay with us safe and enjoyable for you.

In a retreat environment which is very unlike the demandingly distracting outside world around us, we must
respect the need for ourselves and everyone else to do something different and maintain a more
contemplatively reserved inward and outward disposition. All of us are trying to give ourselves a retreat
from all the outside demands on our senses and strive to hear the quiet voice of our savior that is so
smothered by the demandingly distracting world around us.
